The shutdown of U.S. international food aid has left Farm Belt families in a tough spot. For family farmers, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) has for decades been a key buyer of wheat and other staples. Other farmers have gone unpaid for grant work already completed — putting their livelihoods at risk.
